Alpha Double Deep Racking

Double Deep Rack is a high density type of Pallet Racking Storage System that offers selectivity when it is compared to a Drive-In Rack System. Pallets are densely stored in bays 2 deep and there is no driving into the System to store and retrieve pallet loads. This type of a system stores and retrieves pallets from the same aisle in a last-in, first-out order making Double Deep Rack ideally suited to operations that maintain a large quantity of multiple SKU (Stock Keeping Units). Normally, the same SKU and/or lot number is stored in a lane because every lane operates independently of the other lanes within the same bay.

Not only does Double Deep Pallet Rack increase storage efficiency by improving pallet density, but it accomplishes this while maintaining a high number of pick faces in your warehouse. Thus, neither accessibility nor efficiency is compromised in this cost effective bulk storage system.

As each pick location has a front and a back pallet, this pallet rack layout involves back to back rows of 2-deep selective rack. In order to access the back pallet, a specially designed deep reach attachment is added to the lift truck. Last In First Out (LIFO) inventory is easily accommodated by placing the last pallet in the front slot so it is the first to be picked.

Benefits of Double Deep Pallet Racking:

  • Up to 40% more storage capacity than selective rack

  • Same low cost per pallet as selective rack

  • Offers the same selectivity and pallet density as 2-deep push back
